The UCD College of Business is undergoing a €20m expansion to help grow its facilities to better prepare students for ever-changing work environments. This part of the €65m investment to develop the UCD College of Business strategy announced in 2016.
The new UCD Moore Centre for Business will open September 2019, and will feature interactive learning, extensive co-working zones, and a 320-seat lecture theatre.
The facility, under construction next to the UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business at Belfield, will also include an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub, Media Suite, Skills Quarter Support Area, and THINK Lab.
“As Ireland’s leading business school we constantly challenge our offering to ensure we have world-class facilities that present our students every opportunity to excel and differentiate themselves as they enter the world of business,” said (opens in a new window)Professor Anthony Brabazon, Dean, UCD College of Business.
“The UCD Moore Centre for Business will allow current and future students to learn in an environment that celebrates innovation, creativity and adaptability—characteristics we know to be valued in the workforce and society as we face bold and audacious global challenges.”
The new project is part-funded by a donation from Angela Moore in memory of her late husband UCD alumnus George Moore, a successful Irish-American businessman and philanthropist who died in 2013.
(opens in a new window)Dr Maeve Houlihan, Associate Dean of the UCD College of Business, added: “This is about students, about business, about society and about changing the way we live and work. This is the future of business education.”
University College Dublin remains one of the most popular destinations for students enrolling in business courses, according to the Financial Times Global Masters rankings.
In 2018, the (opens in a new window)UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School had, for the second time in a row, its full-time MSc in Finance programme ranked 36th in the world, and 30th in Europe.
The school’s MSc in International Management programme is regarded as the world’s seventh best masters in management course by the prestigious rankings.
In addition to the international rankings, the UCD College of Business remains the only business school in Ireland to hold accreditation from three centres of business and academic excellence: EQUIS (Europe); AACSB (US); and AMBA (UK).
