'Bare bones of a fanlight': Georgian Dublin Conference: 5-6 May 2006, Newman House, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin
Call for Papers
In May 2006 University College Dublin will host a multi-disciplinary
conference to explore Georgian Dublin. Subjects of particular interest
include history, politics, art, architecture, town planning, literature,
drama, publishing, fashion, music, medicine, business, education,
philanthropy and popular culture. The conference is also interested in
representations of the city, particularly as a City of Empire¹.
Comparative papers are also welcome. The conference will include a forum on
how the state, private institutions and individuals have behaved toward
Georgian Dublin and it will consider how it has been and will be
incorporated into a twenty-first century city.
Abstracts of 250 words are invited from scholars of relevant disciplines.
The deadline for proposals is Friday 24 February 2006. These should be
