UCD is The Sunday Times University of the Year 2006
UCD has been voted The Sunday Times University of the Year 2006. The
award is based on student satisfaction questionnaires and league table
data relating to academic achievements. UCD students rated their
experience at the university as one of the best in the country, giving
the university high-marks for sport, social events and cultural
activities.
The award is a welcome recognition of several key innovations at UCD.
It acknowledges the successful introduction of UCD Horizons - the new
modular, credit-based, student-centred system which gives students more
flexibility and choice, and makes it easier for students to study
abroad for part of their degree. This led to a 10.4% increase in first
preferences for UCD this year. It points to the first-rate student
support services UCD offers and to the calibre and satisfaction of UCD
students. And it also reflects the growing international reputation of
UCD’s research institutes and the increasing role the university plays
on the local, national and international stage.
