What you need: (By Tuesday April 1, 5 pm)
Membership:
- You do not need to be a current Elsa member but you do need to join before your application can be sent to Brussels. Membership costs £2.
Photos:
- Your name and nationality must be on the back of the photos you submit with your application form.
Application Form:
- This can be obtained by coming to our information meeting at 2 pm, Tuesday at the Blob, where we will go to a room yet to be allocated by services and distribute all the necessary information. We will have application forms and a list of the jobs.
CV:
- Your application form contains much of the information on your CV and you should try and avoid duplication. As there is no need for referees there should be plenty of room on one sheet unless you have had a really busy early childhood. It's purpose is really to clinch the deal done by your application form.
Procedure:
- On Tuesday / Early Wednesday all the completed applications will be forwarded to the STEP officer of ELSA Ireland. She will collate all the applications, code them appropriately and send them on to Brussels. There, your application will be matched with the job for which you are most suitable. Hopefully then the emplyer falls in love with you and offers you a job. Only one application is sent out to each employer, though they have the right to reject the initial candidate and ask for another. Obviously some jobs will be tremendously oversubscribed and your chances of successfully obtaining an internship are much improved if you are prepared to be adventurous and go off the beaten track.
