On the 26th June 2024 we were delighted to celebrate the first conferring ceremony of the Guangzhou Dublin International College of Life Sciences & Technology (GDIC).
Guangzhou Dublin International College of Life Sciences & Technology (GDIC), founded in 2020, is a joint international college established in collaboration between, and governed by, University College Dublin (UCD) South China Agricultural University (SCAU). It is located on the SCAU campus, in the sprawling port city of Guangzhou (the “City of Flowers” in southern China and an important trade centre). GDIC’s focus is on Life Science & Technology in the context of the agriculture and food science environments and offers three degree programmes in Biological Sciences, Food Quality and Safety and Horticulture.
Provost of GDIC, Professor Paul Fanning welcomed UCD Registrar, Deputy President and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor Colin Scott and Dean of Agriculture and Head of the School of Agriculture and Food Science, Professor Frank Monahan to the special awards ceremony and congratulated almost 180 students not just the completion of their studies, but the hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
“Your journey has been filled with challenges and triumphs. You have grown not only in knowledge but in character, preparing you for the exciting path that lies ahead.
Be proud of your achievements, and never stop striving for excellence. Your future is bright, and we can't wait to see the amazing things you will accomplish.” He said.
“Congratulations once again, and best wishes for all your future endeavours!” Professor Fanning concluded.
