UCD Horticulture in Environment and Sustainable Resource Management (ESRM) in the (opens in a new window)UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science launched their Executive Education Program on Plant Health for (opens in a new window)Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Inspectors.
The programme is a collaborative new course for DAFM inspectors and is tailored to meet day to day demands of DAFM staff working in Plant Health. It focuses on practical, theoretical and academic aspects of implementation of Irelands National Strategy for Plant Health and the suite of EU Plant Health Regulations in force in Ireland.

The course will explore future challenges, including the impact of climate change and biodiversity loss on plant health.
Opening the launch, Dean of Agriculture and Head of School of Agriculture and Food Science, Professor Frank Monahan warmly welcomed the group, along with Dr. Fiona Lalor, Director of Executive Education for the School of Agriculture and Food Science and Dr. Noeleen Smyth Academic Programme Co-Ordinator for this new programme but also programme Director for the BSc in Horticulture.
Speaking at the launch was Louise Byrne; Chief Plant Health Officer, Director of Food and Feed Safety, Plant Health & Crop Policy at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine who congratulated the students on taking this opportunity and time to invest in developing their skills and knowledge in the area and wished them the very best in this exciting new programme.
