Collaboration and Partnering in Irish Construction Procurement-Challenges and Opportunities

UCD School of Architecture, Planning & Environmental Policy in collaboration with TCD School of Law and DIT Dublin School of Architecture.
Partnering and collaboration in the construction industry are initiatives to improve procurement and project delivery through early design team engagement, contractor involvement in design and cooperative client relationships. This leads to opportunities for value engineering and cost savings, more efficient use of technologies, and a systematic approach to identification and management of risks. Case Studies will be presented and the potential for collaboration to facilitate housing, infrastructure and commercial delivery will be explored.

Conference aims:
- To consider how collaborative procurement and contracting could be developed in Ireland, learning from commercial and housing projects in Ireland and the UK;
- To analyse cultural, legal and technical challenges to collaboration in Irish procurement;
