Careers and Transferable Skills
A degree in archaeology is excellent preparation for a career in almost any field. If you are interested in a career in archaeology, either in research, higher education, museum work, or conservation management, your undergraduate degree from UCD will put you in a competitive position for finding a job or gaining admission to a graduate programme.
However, if you decide to pursue a career in a different field, the transferable skills you acquire in our programme, with its focus on real-world skills, critical thinking, and problem solving, represents excellent preparation for careers in sectors from law to business, medicine, education, and much more. Archaeologists also attract considerable interest from employers in areas such as publishing, government service, management, and foreign service because of their diversity of skills and experiences, and their breadth of knowledge and problem-solving skills.
