Biographical History

The castle of the O'Keeffe's at Dromagh is the oldest castle in the Duhallow area of north County Cork. After 1651, it belonged to the Leader family and was burned by local volunteers during the War of Independence.

Archival History

The papers were discovered by Mr Tom O'Connor when the house was sold, and were later presented to Professor Robert Dudley Edwards in 1978.

Scope and Content

Cash and tenant books of the Leader family, Dromagh, Banteer, County Cork, with financial details of household and estate administration.
