Congratulations to our 2022 Medal Recipients
Daniel Nelis, a 2022 graduate from the MA in Art History, Collections and Curating has been awarded the Michael McCarthy Medal. This medal was established in 2004 to mark the retirement of Professor Michael McCarthy who held the chair of Art History at UCD from 1994-2004. His commitment to post-graduate students is recorded in this medal which is awarded annually to the candidate who obtains the highest GPA in the taught MA in Art History programme. Read about his research into the ways in which the humanitarian and Irish revolutionary Roger Casement (1864-1916) has been commemorated on our MA Blog.
Isabel Loughran, a 2022 graduate from the MA in Cultural Policy and Arts Management, has been awarded The Joan Duff/Irish Museums Trust Medal in memory of the distinguished founder of the Irish Museums Trust, Joan Duff, who passed away in 2018. The Diploma in Arts Administration at UCD, from which our MA originates, was inaugurated in 1986 with the support of the Irish Museums Trust. It is therefore an honour that the Irish Museums Trust has produced this medal for awarding to the outstanding student of the year in the MA.
Medals for 2022 were also awarded to the following undergraduate Art History students: Françoise Henry Memorial Medals, Wiktoria Kordacka (1st Place) and Justyna Kaczorowska (2nd Place); Donal Byrne Memorial Medal, Mia Mercier.
