Dónal Lunny receives Lifetime Achievement Award

We are delighted to share that Dónal Lunny, Creative Futures Academy Musician in Residence, will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards.
Dónal is one of the most significant figures in Ireland's folk and traditional music scene. As Musician in Residence with the Creative Futures Academy (UCD College of Arts & Humanities), Dónal has brought his expertise as a multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer to a new generation of musicians, co-teaching  Traditional Music Practices since 2022.
As a founding member of 10 folk bands, including Planxty, The Bothy Band, Moving Hearts and Mozaik, as well as his contributions as a performer, composer, producer and arranger on countless recordings, we are proud to celebrate Dónal as a defining force in Irish folk music.
Lunny joins a distinguished list of Lifetime Achievement recipients that includes Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill (2024), Mary Black (2022), Christy Moore (2021), Steve Cooney (2020), Moya Brennan (2019) and Andy Irvine (2018).
