Teaching and Learning, and Research
Joseph Twist’s research explores the intersection of philosophy, religion and literature. His focus on the interaction between mystical forms of Islam and postmodern thought in the work of contemporary Muslim authors in Germany challenges negative stereotypes about Islam and highlights their important contribution to debates about belonging and exclusion.
This research has fed into the module ‘Transcultural Encounters 2’ and his contribution to the team-taught module ‘Perceptions of Europe’, the core module for stage two of the BA International in Modern Languages.
