UCD College of Arts & Humanities achieves Top-50 QS Ranking
UCD College of Arts & Humanities is delighted to have sustained the top-50 listing in the latest (opens in a new window)QS World University Rankings by Subject for English Language and Literature (41) and top 100 for History and Performing Arts. In addition, the QS classification of Arts & Humanities remained the strongest entry from UCD.
Elsewhere in UCD, three other subjects at University College Dublin ranked in the top-50 globally: Veterinary Science, Petroleum Engineering and Nursing.
The QS Subject Rankings are based on five criteria: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper, H-Index, and International Research Network (IRN) Index. For the 2025 Subject Rankings, QS analysed the reputation and research data of over 5,200 institutions. From this, more than 1,700 were ranked across a total of 55 academic disciplines and five broad subject areas.

The University was ranked in forty-three subjects overall by QS, with five subjects rising compared to the 2024 rankings and across all five broad subject areas. The QS classification of Arts & Humanities remained the strongest entry from UCD, jumping 20 points from 112 in (opens in a new window)2024 to 92 in (opens in a new window)2025.
There were nine subjects at UCD also ranked between 51 and 100 by QS, including four subjects offered as part of our undergraduate (opens in a new window)BA Humanities and BA Joint Honours programmes; Archaeology, History, Performing Arts & Philosophy.
