University College Dublin is seeking to appoint a Lecturer / Assistant Professor in Plant Biology, to the School of Biology & Environmental Science. We are looking for a candidate with research interests in the broad area of plant ecology or biodiversity who will contribute to the Plant Biology and Environmental Science research of the School.
All areas of plant science are welcome, but we would have particular interest in candidates undertaking research in aspects of climate change and/or terrestrial or aquatic biodiversity.
The candidate is expected to lead an original and innovative scientific research programme as well as contribute to the teaching of plant ecology/biodiversity or plant related climate change biology. The candidate should complement and engage with current academic staff and research programmes within the School and wider UCD community.
The University has several research platforms that the candidate will be able to avail of, including the PEAC controlled environmental facility, a molecular research facility, the Rosemount environmental research station with glasshouse space, a biological imaging suite, a metabolomic analysis suite, a phenotyping platform, and the Dooary Forest research platform.
- Candidates should have a PhD in an appropriate discipline and will be expected to provide teaching of various aspects of biology primarily in the Environmental Biology and Plant Biology undergraduate degree programmes.
- The candidate will also contribute to graduate programmes delivered by the School.
- Applications should also include a 5-year relevant research plan detailing possible funding opportunities, and a teaching portfolio.
Salary Scale: €52,325 - €82,267 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
