Alexandra Bogdanovic

In 2016, I began my undergraduate studies in Industrial Biochemistry in the University of Limerick. As part of this, I had to complete an 8-month internship in industry. I completed this internship in APC Ltd in Cherrywood, Dublin and worked across both upstream and downstream projects in the Biologics Function where I was introduced to the skills and techniques to be a scientist in both areas. After graduating in 2020, I was employed by APC as a Bioprocess Development Scientist. Since then, I have become proficient in the operation of a variety of processes across upstream and downstream biologics. I have advanced my role from team member to project technical lead here in APC where I have managed teams and planned project work that needs to be executed. In September 2022, I started my PhD in UCD under Dr. Jessica Whelan and Dr. Susan McDonnell. This research is funded by the Irish Research Council and supported by APC, where I continue to work under the IRC employment-based programme. The focus of the research will be on the development of a platform for the purification of viral vectors for the manufacture of vaccines and gene therapies.
