SBFE's Professor Da-Wen Sun has achieved the prestigious distinction of being named aFellow of the Asia Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA), marking the highest level of recognition within this esteemed organization. The AAIA bestowed this honour upon Professor Da-Wen Sun in recognition him as “the top scientist with outstanding achievements in the area of applications of machine learning techniques for enhancing non-destructive food quality and safety”.
Professor Da-Wen Sun stands as a revered luminary in the realm of food engineering research and education, earning global recognition for his exceptional contributions. He holds the distinguished title of Academician in six esteemed academies, a testament to his eminence in the academic world. These academies include the Royal Irish Academy, the highest academic honor in Ireland; Academia Europaea, one of the world's most prestigious academies; the Polish Academy of Sciences, the most esteemed accolade bestowed by the Polish government; the International Academy of Food Science and Technology; the International Academy of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering; and the International Academy of Refrigeration. In addition, he is the visionary founder and Editor-in-Chief of Food and Bioprocess Technology, a prestigious journal in the field of food science and technology, with an impressive impact factor of 5.6. He also serves as the Founding Series Editor for the "Contemporary Food Engineering" book series and holds the distinguished position of Founding President at the International Academy of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (iAABE). His dedication to the field extends to his role as the Honorary President of the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR), the world's largest organization in this domain, following his tenure as its President in 2013-2014. He has published over 1,000 papers, including more than 700 peer-reviewed journal papers indexed by Web of Science. His scholarly impact is underscored by his impressive h-index of 117 in Web of Science, 127 in SCOPUS, and 150 in Google Scholar. His exemplary contributions have garnered him the title of Highly Cited Researcher for eight consecutive years (2015-2022) by Clarivate Analytics.
The Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA) was incorporated in Hong Kong in 2021. AAIA is an academic, non-profit and non-governmental organization, AAIA fellows come from Stanford University, Princeton University, MIT, University of Oxford, and other universities, as well as the world’s top scientists in AI related fields from Google, Microsoft, IBM and other high-tech companies. AAIA fellows including academicians (such as member of US National Academy of Sciences, member of US National Academy of Engineering, member of the Academia Europea, member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, member of Canadian Academy of Engineering, member of Royal Academy of Engineering, etc.), IEEE Fellow, ACM Fellow, AAAI Fellow, IAPR Fellow, etc. Its main mission is to strengthen scientists in the field of AI and other fields worldwide to promote the development and application of AI through academic research, exchanges, education, exhibitions, conferences, publications and other activities.
