Following the successful launch of the metastatic breast cancer survey, Siobhan Gaynor and Professor Michaela Higgins appeared on Ireland AM this morning to discuss the survey and cancer research in Ireland.

The survey, spearheaded by Siobhan Gaynor, marks a significant milestone in cancer research in Ireland. This comprehensive survey seeks to gather crucial information about the experiences, needs, and challenges faced by individuals living with metastatic breast cancer. People with metastatic cancer must confront not only physical symptoms of their disease but also psychological and emotional outcomes, which can significantly impact quality of life.

Thanks to advances in cancer research and treatment, more people are surviving their cancer diagnoses, which is undoubtedly a positive development. However, this success poses new challenges for healthcare providers as they strive to manage the effects of cancer treatments and meet the ongoing needs of patients.

In the interview, Siobhan explains the impact that a diagnosis can have:

"It seems to be that every month I'm losing something with the condition and I would like to have the tools to help me deal with that."
