UCD Cancer Trials Partners with the European Oncology Nursing Society

The UCD Cancer Trials Cluster is delighted to announce that it has become an associate member of the European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS). EONS is a European organisation for cancer nurses that provides leadership in all areas of cancer nursing research, practice, continuing education, communications, and advocacy.

As an integral group within the UCD Cancer Trials Cluster, our Research Nurses, along with our data managers and trials support staff, ensure that trials are conducted to the highest standards.

In the nursing profession, Research Nurses are often overlooked and face disparities in career opportunities when compared to their clinically-based colleagues. To advance towards a more equitable status, a key goal of our cluster is to foster a supportive research environment throughout the cluster and establish a clear career progression pathway for research nurses.

This new partnership with EONS represents a small step towards recognising Research Nursing as a viable career pathway and opens up further opportunities for our nursing colleagues to enhance their already expert skillset.
