UCD Charles Institute has access to a suite of core technology platforms in the adjacent UCD Conway Institute of Biomolecular & Biomedical Research. The UCD Conway core technologies programme is one of the most comprehensive and advanced analysis platforms for the life sciences and biomedical research in Ireland. Utilising advanced core technology expertise and equipment in areas such as genomics, proteomics, imaging and flow cytometry enables a wide range of data driven experimentation and underpins dermatology research activities.
The UCD Conway Genomics Core has a range of facilities for next-generation sequencing, real-time PCR and microarray analysis as well as offering custom bioinformatics analysis. The Genomics Core has been offering genomics solutions to academic and commercial customers for more than 10 years in a customisable range of services for each stage of the research pathway, from experimental design and strategy to final publication.
The UCD Conway Mass Spectrometry Core facilitates study of biomolecules that play important roles in fundamental and applied biology, particularly in health and disease. Our instruments enable use of state of the art proteomics and metabolomics approaches to address your scientific problem, including quantitative proteomics, post-translational modifications, and protein-protein interactions.
The UCD Conway Imaging Core where the focus is on providing contemporary imaging technologies and know-how to researchers in the wider scientific community; both in academia and industry. The consolidated instrumentation suite spans all aspects of light and electron microscopy as well as sample preparation and image processing and analysis facilities.
The UCD Conway Flow Cytometry Core uses this incredibly efficient technique for counting and examining the physical and biological characteristics of cells and particles. The flow cytometry facility provides a range of services including instrumentation, workstations, training, software for analyses as well as technical expertise and advice.
The UCD Conway Research Pathology Core provides state-of-the-art automated immunohistochemistry and linked digital pathology services on frozen and formalin fixed paraffin–embedded human and animal tissue.
