Welcome to UCD School of Chemistry and thank you for your interest in the School
We are the largest School of Chemistry in Ireland and are based in newly renovated teaching and research laboratories in Science Centre South, of the O'Brien Centre for Science.
We offer undergraduate degrees in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology (both accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry), Chemistry with Biophysical Chemistry, Chemistry with Environmental and Sustainable Chemistry as well as contributing significantly to the degree in Chemistry, Mathematics and Education. These degree programmes are all accessible through (opens in a new window)CAO code DN200.
We also offer taught MSc programmes in Chemistry (through Negotiated Learning) and an MSc in Advanced Synthetic Chemistry accessible through the UCD Graduate taught programmes application process.
Our academic staff are engaged in active research, raising over €32M in research funding over the past 5 years with a strong record of publications in high impact international journals.
This directly results from a thriving research school with over 120 researchers (at MSc, PhD and post-doctoral levels), supported by a suite of Technical Officer-supported instrumentation including NMR, Mass Spectrometry and Crystallography facilities. We are, with the TCD School of Chemistry, part of Dublin Chemistry, a joint graduate school (and home of the oldest structured Chemistry PhD programme in Ireland).
The School has recently been awarded an Athena Swan Bronze Award, confirming our commitment to gender equality and the development of a family friendly working environment.
