UCD School of Chemistry welcomes colleagues from Zhejiang Normal University, a longstanding partner of UCD

UCD School of Chemistry was delighted to host a delegation from Zhejiang Normal University, China (ZJNU) on 2nd December 2024. The delegation was led by Mr. Guanfu Fu, the Vice Chair of the ZJNU University Council, who was accompanied by Associate Professor Xilong Mao, Director of the ZJNU International Office, Professor Yufeng Chen, Dean of the ZJNU College of Economics & Management, Associate Professor Yong Liu, Vice Dean of the ZJNU School of Computer Science & Technology and Associate Professor Zhixiong Ye, the Executive Vice President of the Young Professors Networking Association. ProfessorJames Sullivan welcomed the delegation to UCD and expressed his enthusiasm and commitment to strengthening the collaboration between the two institutions, building in particular on the success of the long-running Summer School programme where UCD School of Chemistry has hosted students for many years.

The main focus of the visit was to deepen and explore further collaborations with UCD with the aim of setting up pre-master programmes and summer schools between ZJNU and the UCD Schools of Chemistry, Economics and Computer Science, and explore other opportunities, joint ventures and exchanges.
The ZJNU delegation met with UCD counterparts including Professor Benjamin Elsner, Head of the UCD School of Economicsand Assistant Professor Avishek Nag, Head of Global Engagement of the UCD School of Computer Science. Dr Anna Nunan, the Head of Unit at UCDCentre for English and Global Languages and Ms Lilla Korbuly, UCD Global Partnerships Officer also joined the meeting to discuss opportunities for connections between ZJNU and UCD including pre-master programmes.
