Biography: Susan McDonnell received a BSc in Biochemistry
from University College Dublin in 1982 and then completed a PhD
in Cell Biology
in Dublin City University (DCU). She then spent four years working
as a postdoctoral research fellow in Vanderbilt University, Nashville,
Tennessee. In 1992 she was appointed lecturer in the School of
Biotechnology, in DCU and moved to the Department of Chemical and
Biochemical Engineering at UCD in 2004. Susan was awarded a Fulbright
Scholarship in 1997 and spent a year’s sabbatical in Memorial-Sloan
Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Susan is a member of both the
Irish and American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and is
council member of the Irish Association for Cancer Research (IACR).
