The Irish Economy and the Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic
Throughout the past 40 years, China and Ireland enjoyed sustained contemporaneous high economic growth and in GDP growth terms were the respective ‘star performers’ of East and West. This lecture seeks to present an overview of the development of the Irish economy and identify key features of its economic structure, FDI and tax system. In the calamitous global crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ireland’s response and its economic impact will be accessed and discussed.
The lecture ends with a look at the economic recoveries and challenges which lie ahead for Ireland.
