Research funding for six teams to advance UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger

The Sustainable Development Goals Challenge is run in partnership with Irish Aid, and the six research projects receiving funding are focused on SDG 2: Zero Hunger. The research teams will develop a wide range of solutions that can contribute to ending hunger, achieving food security and promoting sustainable agriculture.

The Citizen Rural Research Lab is delighted to have been awarded one of the six projects. Our project will integrate indigenous knowledge with climate-smart agricultural technologies to build resilience in smallholder farming practices in Malawi.

Applications Now Open for Graduate Programmes in Sustainable Agriculture & Rural Development In UCD

Applications for September 2025 entry to our Graduate Programmes in Sustainable Agriculture & Rural Development are now open. You can specialise in Agriculture or Community/Local Development depending on your interests and/or background.

Masters, Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate options are available, as well as part-time and full-time routes.

Our postgraduate courses focus on sustainable rural transitions that address policy formulation and implementation for adaptation, societal change and economic impact in rural settings. The programmes are designed for people at any stage in their career who have a passion for rural towns, villages and the countryside. If you are just completing your Undergraduate Degree, would like to have a career change, or if you wish to undertake Continuing Professional Development in your role in local government, the civil service, local development or advisory services, one of our courses could be for you. If you are interested in registering for one module only, please contact the Programme Director.
