"Predictions of settlement in peat soils" by Michael Long and Noel Boylan has ranked 1st in the number of downloads from the Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology in the month of September. UCD has a history of peat research going back some 60 years to the work of Professor Eamon Hanrahan. This paper compiles records of a large number of laboratory tests on peat from sites in Ireland, Norway and the Netherlands as well as full scale loading data from 5 sites.
