About CPCR

The Centre for Peace and Conflict research (previously the Institute for British-Irish Studies) is an interdisciplinary centre based in the School of Politics and International Relations at University College Dublin. It carries out world-leading research on the themes of peace and conflict.

The Centre operates an active research and outreach program to enhance understanding of a range of topics related to peace and conflict, including the impact of peace and conflict on historically excluded groups and the role of institutions. Our research uses a range of methods, including single case studies and comparative work.

Aims

• to promote and conduct academic research on peace and conflict, from an inter-disciplinary social science perspective.
• to place our research in a broader international context
• to promote and encourage collaboration with academic bodies and with individual researchers elsewhere who share these interests.
• to promote contact with policymakers and stakeholders outside the university sector, and to ensure a free flow of ideas between the academic and the non-academic worlds so as better to inform public policy-making and contribute to substantive public debates.
