The Women’s Activities in Armed Rebellion Project
Meredith Loken in an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam. Her research explores the causes and effects of women's participation in armed groups, gender-based targeting during conflict, and rebel messaging and narrative-building around political violence. She has published widely on the gendered dynamics of civil war, including within armed groups and women’s wings in rebellion, and she is particularly focused in her research on the conflict in Northern Ireland.
