International Women’s Day: Celebrating Ad Astra Scholar Ava Canning
This International Women’s Day we would like to celebrate one of our students in the School of Computer Science for her achievements. Ava Canning is one of our Stage 2 students in the Computer Science degree, and is one of our Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholars.
Ava Canning has been a member of the Irish Women’s National Cricket Team since 2021, as well as playing for Leinster and Typhoons. The Irish Cricket Team has just concluded a very (opens in a new window)successful tour of Zimbabwe, where they were the winners of both the ODI and T201 series, winning seven games and drawing one. We are hopeful to see the Irish squad qualifying for the T20 Women’s World Cup which is set to take place later this year, and will be excited to cheer Ava on!
Ava’s incredible sporting achievements are happening alongside her excellent work in her studies here, and we are excited to see what comes next for her.
