UCD NetsLab Leads a Global Consortium to Tackle 6G Security Challenges

UCD NetsLab Takes the Lead in Coordinating ENSURE-6G: Advancing Security and Privacy for Next-Generation Networks

University College Dublin’s (UCD) NetsLab is proud to announce the launch of the ENSURE-6G project in January 2025. This 48-month initiative, funded under the HORIZON-MSCA-2023-SE-01 program with a total budget of €1,577,800, is a groundbreaking effort to tackle the growing challenges of security and privacy in Beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G networks.

As the coordinator of the project, UCD NetsLab leads a consortium of 15 partners spanning Europe, Asia, and South America. This international collaboration ensures a diverse range of expertise and innovation to address the pressing needs of future networks.

ENSURE-6G is a critical step forward in developing secure, resilient telecommunications infrastructures for the future. By addressing both cyber and physical threats, this project ensures safer adoption of 6G technologies while supporting innovation and collaboration across borders,” said Madhusanka Liyanage, Director of UCD NetsLab and Coordinator of ENSURE-6G.

Advancing Global Network Resilience

The ENSURE-6G project will focus on key use cases, including safeguarding autonomous vehicles, drones, and smart cities, while mitigating risks associated with new user devices. By leveraging UCD NetsLab’s expertise and cutting-edge research infrastructure, this project is poised to set new benchmarks for security and privacy in the telecommunications landscape.
