UCD Ad Astra Fellows
The Ad Astra Fellowship scheme is an initiative to bring some of the best early career academics from around the world to UCD. It is part of an ambitious plan to increase faculty numbers by 500 over five years. Seventy early career academics have already joined our thriving academic community via this route and we are now recruiting a further 30 over a range of disciplines including computer science.

About Our School
The School of Computer Science in UCD is a leading centre for computer and data science and plays an important role in supporting Ireland’s burgeoning ICT sector. We currently host more than 140 PhD students, ~40% female, from 30 different countries, in addition to more than 1,000 students studying on a variety of taught undergraduate and graduate courses. Our school continues to be instrumental in the creation and development of a number of large-scale, on-going research and education initiatives, from the (opens in a new window)SFI Insight Centre for Data Analytics to the Centre for Cybersecurity and Cybercrime Investigation to (opens in a new window)ML-Labs, the SFI Centre for Research and Training in Machine Learning.
Our teaching and research activities cover a broad range of topics, including AI, Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Digital Health, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Multimedia Systems, Computer Science Education, and Foundations of Computing. We pride ourselves on the quality of our teaching, the impact of our research, and our history of interdisciplinary collaboration. Position Summary
The Ad Astra Fellow’s programme is a key initiative for the further development of our school. It offers a 5-year, full-time contract to early-career researchers (Assistant Professorship, tenure-track). The School of Computer Science will also offer its successful candidates funding for a full-time PhD student (4 years) and a reduced teaching load.
