Technical Content Writer

Applications are invited for a temporary, 3-year post as Technical Content Writer in UCD Centre for Cybersecurity & Cybercrime Investigation (CCI). Since 2006, CCI has provided technical, operational, and strategic support to a range of national and international stakeholder groups in the financial services sector, national government, and the global law enforcement community. The activities of the Centre are funded from a range of sources and are mainly project based. The role of the Technical Content Writer will be to work alongside CCI Cyber Analysts to deliver a range of training resources for the Cyber Skills project, which is funded by the Higher Education Authority of Ireland. https://www.cyberskills.ie/

As an ideal candidate, the applicant will have proven experience in a technical field, such as software development, computer science, or engineering, while previous experience in writing educational content would be an advantage. They should have a natural desire to help people understand things that are hard to understand and have clearly demonstrated their ability to evaluate and analyse complex technical information and convert that information into engaging and user-friendly content.

The Technical Writer is also responsible for gathering and generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Therefore, the ability to work as effectively by themselves as within a group is essential. Knowledge of the cybersecurity domain would be an advantage. The candidate should be an effective researcher and be able to develop clearly written resources that meet the standards of the organisation. Excellent communication skills are vital, as the ability to interpret and document concepts in a clear and comprehensible way is at the core of the role.
