Jos' research focuses on the development and application of statistical methods in political science: 1) developing statistical tools for the study of policy diffusion; 2) democratization and democratic breakdown; & 3) referendum and general voting behaviour & the role of political knowledge.

Steffi's research is based in conflict studies, with a focus on psychological micro-foundations of political dissent. She conducts ethnographic interviews with political dissidents and applies computational methods to identify the reasoning processes expressed in the interviews. This approach adds novel insight into the deliberations underlying political behaviour, which routinely deviate from rational choice principles or assumptions from large-n studies.

Alexa's research is in normative political theory and political philosophy. She is particularly interested in the question of what it takes for a legal framework to treat citizens as free and equal, given their relevant cultural differences. Her current research regards questions of justice relating to the cultural aspects of climate change such as forced migration and cultural loss.
