Dr Catherine Doody
Associate Director
Catherine Doody is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health Physiotherapy and Sports Science. She qualified in Physiotherapy in UCD, completed an MSc in Physiotherapy in the University of East London, an MSc in Mindfulness Based Interventions in UCD and her PhD in UCD. She was founder director of the taught MSc in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy and is currently Associate Dean for Physiotherapy. Her research interests include the identification and classification of chronic musculoskeletal pain according to underlying neurophysiological pain mechanisms.
Recent research has focused on the evaluation of multidisciplinary approaches for the treatment of chronic pain and prognostic studies which aim to investigate the role of pain sensitization in determining treatment outcomes. She has supervised both PhD and MSc students and has received research funding from the Health Research Board, Irish Research Council, EuroSpine, the ISCP and from Industry. She is a founder co-director of the Centre for Translational Pain Research in UCD.
