Damien Lowry

Dr Damien Lowry 

Dr Damien Lowry is a Principal Specialist Counselling and Neuropsychologist with the Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) Neurology Service since April 2023, having previously worked in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH) for over 18 years.

His interest in human mind and behaviour relationships probably emanates from growing up in a household characterised by disability and sign language communication. He completed his undergraduate studies in Psychology at Brown University, Rhode Island, where he was also the intervarsity track team captain. He subsequently trained as a Counselling Psychologist in TCD before undertaking his neuropsychology PhD in UCD. He has a particular interest in helping those diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), Medically Unexplained Symptoms (MUS), and other persistent pain syndromes. He is the 2025 Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) President and he enjoys participating in ongoing clinical research projects, postgraduate teaching, and supervision of trainee placements. He has published multiple, peer-reviewed, scientific articles in the area of chronic pain.
