Gerry Wilson

Professor Gerry Wilson

Professor of Rheumatology

ctpr-gerry-wilson-300wProfessor Wilson trained in Medicine at Queen's University Belfast. Following initial clinical training, he was awarded a Versus Arthritis PhD fellowship on the role of TNF genetics in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).  He then received a travelling fellowship to work as a post-doctoral researcher in Stanford University, investigating TNF genotype-phenotype relationships.


He completed his clinical training as a rheumatologist in Oxford and was Professor of Rheumatology in Sheffield before moving in 2013 to take up the newly created UCD/Arthritis Ireland Chair of Rheumatology.  He is currently the Director of the UCD Centre for Arthritis Research and his main research areas are genetic and epigenetic influences on tissue damage in RA and therapeutic responses.
