UCD Discovery hosts AI and Healthcare workshop at the Nagoya University Institute for Advanced Research, Japan

The UCD Institute for Discovery conducted an invited visit to the Nagoya University Institute for Advanced Research, Japan, to co-host a workshop on AI and Healthcare at the University Based Institutes of Advanced Study (UBIAS) Directors Conference, Oct 31 - Nov 2nd 2023, with the aim to develop a collaboration across the network of 50 Institutes of Advanced Study.
Artificial Intelligence is transforming the field of Healthcare by offering unprecedented opportunities to enhance patient care, improve diagnostics and address the societal challenge of health equity. Through harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, healthcare professionals can make data-driven decisions ensuring best outcomes in patient care through early disease detection to optimising the delivery of resources.
The talks and panel discussion on AI in Healthcare brought together partners with an interest in AI in Healthcare to share expertise and showcase projects with a view to collaborating on a range of initiatives for example (but not limited to); EU horizon and international funding opportunities, policy contribution, publications, staff exchanges and early career researcher training.
Highlights of the event included the Institute for Discovery sharing expertise on augmenting Artificial Intelligence with Biomedical Science and the establishment of the AI Healthcare Hub at UCD. IEAT-UFMG Brasil discussed policy & perspectives from Brasil showcasing their Innovation Center on Artificial Intelligence for Health. The Institute for Advanced Study - University of Amsterdam led a discussion on generative AI.
The UBIAS network enables us to bring together expertise from different Institutes, countries and continents to learn from each other, and to collaborate on emerging research and impactful solutions to real-world problems.
