UCD Master of Architecture achieves Substantial Equivalency from the NAAB

We would like to inform you with great pleasure, that the UCD College of Engineering & Architecture was recently informed that our Master of Architecture has been given the designation of Substantial Equivalency by the National Architectural Accrediting Board, NAAB, in the United States, for six Years starting from January 2017.

The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), based in the United States, aspires to be the leader in establishing educational quality assurance standards to enhance the value, relevance, and effectiveness of the architectural profession. At the international level, NAAB seeks to advance accreditation in architectural education through evaluating professional degree programs offered abroad for substantial equivalency.

The NAAB occasionally evaluates programs outside the U.S., ineligible for NAAB accreditation, to determine if they are "substantially equivalent" to NAAB-accredited programs.

The term "substantial equivalency" identifies a program as comparable in educational outcomes in all significant aspects and indicates that it provides an educational experience meeting acceptable standards, even though such program may differ in format or method of delivery.

Achieving this has been a long process for the School of Architecture, Planning & Environmental Policy, with preparation of documents, required forms, collecting data, statistics, facts and evidence and scheduled visits to campus. It is with this in mind we would like to thank the members of the Architecture Program Accreditation Committee, dean, faculty, staff, students and to all who have contributed to this achievement.
