Highly Cited: UCD researchers named amongst 2024’s most influential
Tuesday, 19 November, 2024
Professors Paula Bourke and Da-Wen Sun, from the UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering, and Eliana B. Souto, UCD School of Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering
Three researchers at University College Dublin are among the top 1% of the world's most cited academics according to the (opens in a new window)latest Highly Cited Researchers report, compiled by Clarivate Analytics.
The 2024 listings have named Professors (opens in a new window)Da-Wen Sun and (opens in a new window)Paula Bourke, both from the UCD School of Biosystems and Food Engineering, as well as Eliana B. Souto, SALI Professor of Pharmaceutical Engineering at the UCD School of Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering as among the 6,636 researchers recognised this year as having demonstrated significant influence in their chosen fields.
To be named as a ‘Highly Cited Researcher’ it must be demonstrated that an individual’s work has disproportionately extended the frontiers of knowledge and contributed to making the world healthier, more sustainable and drive societal impact.
“The Highly Cited Researchers list identifies and celebrates exceptional individual researchers whose significant and broad influence in their fields translates to impact in their research community,” said David Pendlebury, Head of Research Analysis at the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate.
“Their pioneering innovations contribute to a healthier, more sustainable and secure world. These researchers’ achievements strengthen the foundation of excellence and innovation that drives societal progress.”
Each researcher selected for the 2024 listings has authored multiple Highly Cited Papers which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field, and publication year in the Web of Science, over the past decade.
