A Sustainable Future

CEA Strategy for Research, Innovation & Impact 2025-30

Vision

Our vision is to achieve a just transition to a sustainable, healthy, prosperous and equitable future.

Mission

Our mission is to educate and to conduct research in the development of engineering technologies, infrastructure, design, planning and policy. In doing so, we uniquely bring together interdisciplinary partnerships to advance basic and applied research, technical expertise and innovation to deliver a more sustainable, healthy, prosperous and equitable future. Our established international leadership in areas including energy, manufacturing and materials, environment and the circular economy, the internet of things, the built environment, biomedical engineering, food, health, creativity and design provide the foundation to do so.

Context

The (opens in a new window)UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) are a “blueprint for a more sustainable and better future”, with a focus on the environment, health, economic growth and reduced inequality. In its broadest terms sustainability encompasses not only environmental sustainability, but also economic, competitive and technical sustainability.

Our faculty are at the forefront of creating impactful solutions for global challenges. The professionals that we educate: engineers, scientists, architects, environmental policy makers and planners; are key to enabling society to achieve a just transition to a sustainable, healthy, prosperous and equitable future.

We strongly value the diverse range of research carried out across the College. The College will strive to support researchers across all areas to conduct research in a manner that is sustainable, ensuring that this is at the core of our decision making.
