Climate and environment research and policy in Ireland with Dr Gerry Clabby, Principal Advisor, Environment and Climate Research and Advisory Unit, Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications.
Dr Gerry Clabby is Principal Advisor in the Environment and Climate Research and Advisory Unit of the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications. The Unit has responsibility for the provision of technical and scientific advice to support national policy across a wide range of climate and environment areas, for research and innovation, including the management of the Climate Action Modelling Group, and for EU programmes including the LIFE Programme & Innovation Fund. The Unit is also leading the implementation of the Departmental Research and Innovation Strategy and the development of a National Statement of Environment Policy and also carries out an independent environmental assessment function in respect of certain matters. Previously Gerry was Head of Ecological Assessment for the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).
