New Institute Members - January/February 2020
We are delighted to welcome two new members to the Earth Institute, Jennifer Keating from UCD School of History and Treasa de Loughry from UCD School of English, Drama and Film.
A tenured member of faculty in the School of History, Jennifer's work explores the environmental history of modern Eurasia - particularly issues surrounding irrigation, environmental marginalization of nomadic communities, imperial infrastructure and settler colonialism. The connections between population, government policy, resource scarcity and conflict over natural resources are core themes of her research.
Treasa de Loughry is an Assistant Professor and Ad Astra Fellow in the School of English, Drama and Film, interested in the study of environmental humanities in world and postcolonial literature. Her current work is especially centered around issues of waste and pollution, concering environmentally-damaging policies of waste exportation to developing countries.
Welcome to Jennifer and Treasa! More information about our members can be found in our directory. If you think you would be interested in joining the Earth Institute as a member, our application process is also outlined here.
