On Thursday 14 May, we were delighted to host one of the UK's most prominent social scientists, Professor Danny Dorling, Halford Mackinder Professor of Geography at the University of Oxford. Danny discussed his new book, "Slowdown: The End of the Great Acceleration - and Why It's Good for The Planet, the Economy, and Our Lives" as part of the Plotting the Future series of public lectures. The talk is co-hosted with our colleagues in the Schools of Geography and of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice, and was chaired by Prof. Jacky Croke (UCD School of Geography). Danny was also joined by an expert panel, consisting of Larry O'Connell (National Economic and Social Council), Bradley Garrett (UCD School of Geography) and Marie Moran (UCD School ).

In the lead up to the event, research manager Caitriona Devery also sat down with Prof. Dorling for our series of Earth Talks, which gives a taster of what the book covers, as well as some comment on the current pandemic.
