How can we make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable? Can social cohesion and citizen involvement help to advance change and improve the way we make decisions? How does the environment impact on issues of well-being and happiness, poverty and inequality? How can we stimulate development in the Global South and marginalised communities? What can we learn from historical and prehistorical precedents of how communities organised themselves?
The UCD Earth Institute’s multidisciplinary community of researchers are working to answer these questions.
Contact our Sustainable Communities theme leads Nessa Winston (UCD School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice) & Karen Keaveney (UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science) or the Earth Institute team to find out more about our activities in this area.
