Neoma Mass Spectrometer Commissioning
Engineers from Thermo Fisher and scientists from The National Centre for Isotope Geochemistry at UCD have completed commissioning of the SFI-funded Thermo Fisher Neoma mass spectrometer – the latest generation instrument capable of measuring isotopic ratios across an abundance of earth, ocean, archeological, and biological materials.
The instrument is the first in Ireland and one of only a handful installed globally.
Development of novel methods for isotopic analysis and mineral dating, especially using microscopic laser ablation sampling will get underway in Summer 2024.
Prospective users are invited to contact the lab managers.
