Thermo-Scientific Neptune multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer
The world class analytical facility that is NCIG has a range of equipment including a (opens in a new window)Thermo-Scientific Neptune multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer. This is linked with a (opens in a new window)New Wave 193nm Excimer laser ablation system, a (opens in a new window)Thermo-Scientific Triton thermal ionization mass spectrometer, a VG354 thermal ionization mass spectrometer and a (opens in a new window)New Wave Micromil.
The Centre also has access to rock crushing/milling facilities and a heavy mineral separation lab, including two magnetic separators. The School of Earth Sciences also contains a dedicated geochemical preparation laboratory and a Hitachi TM-1000 Desktop Electron Microscope (SEM).
