Jonathan Yearsley

Dr.

Jon Yearsley leads the Ecological Modelling group at UCD. His research develops ecological theory and approaches for ecological data analysis.

He has been researching in ecological modelling since 1995. Originally a graduate in physics from the University of Birmingham (1st Hons), with an MSc in the Advanced Study in Mathematics (Part III of the Tripos, distinction) from the University of Cambridge (Churchill College) and a PhD in Cosmology from the University of Sussex (Supervisor Prof John Barrow).

I am an Associate Professor in Mathematics at University College Dublin. From 2008 to 2018 I was an Assistant Professor in Mathematics at University College Dublin. From 2007 to 2008 I was a Postdoc Researcher at University College Dublin in the Potential Theory group. My research interests are in the areas of Nonlinear Analysis, Potential Theory and Partial Differential Equations.

I am a member of Irish Mathematical Society, American Mathematical Society and British Society for Research into Learning Mathematics.

I've been a lecturer at UCD since 2003 teaching mostly into the Agricultural Science and Environmental Science Programmes and into the MSc Global Change: Environmental Science and Policy. Since 2013, I'm also a member of the UCD Earth Institute. Before I came to UCD, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the USDA-ARS, New Mexico, USA (between 2001-2003). I got my PhD. from Colorado State University, Graduate Degree Programme in Ecology, Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. Originally, I'm from Bern, Switzerland. I studied at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland and at the Institute of Ecology and Botany of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Vacratot, Hungary
