On December 15, Ben Elsner presented his work on refugee migration and social cohesion at a policy event hosted by the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) in Geneva. The event featured presentations of a joint research report on
Forced Displacement and Social Cohesion by the World Bank, the UNHCR and UKAid, as well as research papers on the impact of forced migration in Switzerland, Germany, and Bosnia-Hercegowina.
Ben presented joint work with Emanuele Albarosa (IOM) on the impact of the influx of over one million refugees in Germany in 2015/16 on social attitudes and incidents of anti-immigrant violence. The paper can be found here <link to working paper>.
