EGA Award Ceremony 2024
The UCD Engineering Graduates Association held the EGA Award Ceremony on Wednesday 6 November at 18:00pm (Irish Standard Time). The proceedings took place on campus at University College Dublin. The EGA were delighted to celebrate the evening marking this year's medal and award recipients and thank the generous sponsors who support this event by rewarding the academic excellence of our students. The event is kindly sponsored by the Advance Centre Professional Education for Digital Transformation.
2024 UCD EGA Distinguished Graduate Award
Each year, the EGA recognises a standout UCD Engineering graduate with the Distinguished Graduate Award for their exceptional contributions to society. This tradition, which began in 2002, is the highlight of the EGA’s annual calendar. The 2024 UCD EGA Distinguished Graduate Award will be presented to (opens in a new window)Paddy Hayes, CEO of ESB Group and UCD Engineering alumnus (M.Eng.Sc, 1991 & BE 1986). With over two decades of service at ESB, Paddy Hayes has made significant contributions to the energy sector, particularly in steering ESB's efforts towards sustainability and innovation. His leadership, including roles as Managing Director of ESB Networks and Executive Director of Generation and Wholesale Markets, reflects his deep commitment to Ireland’s energy transition. Paddy was appointed CEO in 2021, guiding ESB through crucial phases of decarbonisation and modernisation.
