Dublin Climate Dialogues

UCD Energy Institutewas delighted to support theDublin Climate Dialogues Conference,which took place on the 19th& 20thof May and broadcast from UCD’s O’Reilly Hall.

The event brought together senior government representatives from the US, China, Europe, the UK and the UN, along with high-profile business representatives and leading economists, to forge a declaration on how to turn net-zero pledges into concrete energy policies and actions to be adopted at COP26 including ways to strengthen the 2015 Paris Agreement.

The declaration was handed to the COP Presidency at the conclusion of the conference.

Professor Andrew Keanewas a member of the Steering Committee for the event and moderated two sessions at the conference:

Session 7:Technologies and Resources for Decarbonisationexplored a selection of the critical energy resources and technologies required for the transition to net zero carbon energy.

Session 8: Energy Systems to Facilitate Decarbonisationstarted with a keynote address from Marie Toussaint, French Greens/EFA Member of the European Parliament, titled ‘Transitioning Europe to Climate Neutrality’.  Following the presentation, a live panel debate brought together experts from Europe, China and the US to discuss the different approaches to infrastructure planning and investment, market structures and innovation.
