2026 EDI Calendar Photo Submission

In 2026, the EDI Calendar will mark its 5th Anniversary and to celebrate this milestone EDI is launching a special initiative inviting colleagues to submit photos which will be featured in our 2026 Calendar. Keep reading below to find out more about this initiative and how to get involved.

Each employee can submit up to three photos during the submission period using the form below. The deadline for submissions is 15 August 2025. A selection panel will review all submissions and choose 12 photos which will be featured in the 2026 EDI Calendar, one for each month. Photos should celebrate culture and religion, focusing on events, symbols, or traditions in alignment with the theme and should meet the eligibility criteria outlined below.

Criteria and Important Eligibility Information

Theme alignment:

Photos should be suitable for publication on the EDI Calendar, symbolising a significant date or festival taking place during a month of the year, and should be aligned to the UCD University Value “Inclusion.” Colleagues are invited to be creative and avoid generic images without deeper cultural significance.

We also welcome photos that may not directly relate to culture or religion as long as they align with the broader themes of diversity, inclusion, belonging and celebration. Colleagues are encouraged to look at the previous versions of the calendar for inspiration.

Colleagues should state which month and date their photos align with and why (e.g. Carnival, Christmas, Diwali, Eid al-Fitr, Lunar New Year, St Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving etc.)

Submission deadline: Friday 15 August 2025

Specifications:

  • Maximum 3 photos per person
  • High-resolution images (minimum 300 DPI, 3000 x 4000 pixels).
  • Landscape mode
  • Original content only, no stock images or existing online photos, no AI-generated images.

Cultural Sensitivity: Photos should reflect respectful and accurate depictions of cultural or religious events.

No Human Subjects: In line with GDPR policies, photos should not feature identifiable individuals or close-up shots of people’s faces.

Photo Selection: A Panel will review and select the 12 images for the 2026 EDI Calendar, one for each month. The panel will consist of representatives from the EDI Team, EDI Subgroups and wider Culture & Engagement Team. They will ensure that selected photos represent a balanced range of cultures, religions, and social celebrations, maintaining visual diversity across the 12 months. Should multiple photo submissions represent the same festival or event, the panel will select one for inclusion in the 2026 Calendar, and the remaining images will be stored in an image bank for consideration in future Diversity Calendars.
